The Plywood Group of chairs by Charles & Ray Eames were a series of chairs combining different base frames with plywood shells. From the original LCM Chair, with a chrome leg base, they developed the LCW - a chair where both the seat, backrest and leg structure were created from moulded plywood

Manufactured today by Vitra the LCW Chair (or 'Lounge Chair Wood', to give it its full title) is available with either a natural, red or black ash finish. In 1946 it was actually launched in the calf skin version and this is now available in either black and white (with a black ash shell) or brown and white (with a natural ash shell).
