The Tube Chair from Hay juxtaposes two elements in perfect harmony. Whilst the feet, seat and top of the back are made from white powder coated cast aluminium, the legs and ladder back are made from natural oak. Whilst most wooden chairs are often focussed on craftsmenship, which makes them high priced, the approach with the Tube Chair was to create something which moved from a craft aspect to a design one. By using simple wooden 'broomstick' elements along with the aluminium components, a traditional material is combined with a modern one, giving the chair an overall contemporary expression.
