This Annual Egg 2012, named Mirella's Egg, is designed by Oiva Toikka for Iittala and is from the much loved Bird Collection, depicting a range of different species drawing inspiration from nature. The simplistic contours are reminiscent of the streamlined aesthetic of Nordic design, classic yet contemporary.

Toikka combines both his love for wildlife and his in-depth knowledge of glass to create beautiful sculptures, full of depth, from multiple coloured pigments and patterns incorporated within the glass. Well known for his imaginative art, 400 birds have been created from its first inception in 1972 which has immersed a dedicated following who appreciate this level of craftsmanship. Each bird is both diverse and unique signaling its individuality.

The collection is made by hand at the Nuutajärvi factory in Finland and is signed O. Toikka Nuutajärvi as proof of authenticity.
