This is the upholstered version of the Vitra re-edition of the Eames DAW Chair with its maple 'Eiffel Tower' leg base. It's based on the original 1950 fibreglass design of the first industrially manufactured plastic chair.
In 1993 Vitra discontinued production for ecological reasons as fibreglass cannot be re-cycled. Thanks to recent advances in technology it is now manufactured in polypropylene.
The Eames DAW Chair comes available in a range of mid century modern colours reflecting its heritage and the period when it was first launched. In 2010 Vitra introduced this upholstered version which, as well as retaining the outer shell colour, also offers a number of coloured upholstery options in Hopsak (100% polyamide) with either black or white piping. Upholstery is available on just the seat pad or the whole chair.
PURCHASING NOTE : To purchase the DAW Upholstered Chair, simply select the seat colour from the drop down box on the right. This will then show the complementary Hopsak colours and prices below for you to select. From the tic boxes below don't forget to select whether you require just the seat to be upholstered or the whole chair. With the fully upholstered version select the colour piping you require and whether you want felt glides (for a wooden floor) or plastic glides (for a carpeted floor).
