This is the upholstered version of the Vitra re-edition of the Eames Eames DSR Chair. With its chromed 'Eiffel Tower' style leg base the DSR is based on the original 1950 fibreglass design of the first industrially manufactured plastic chair.
In 1993 Vitra discontinued production of the DSR for ecological reasons as its original material, fibreglass, cannot be re-cycled. Thanks to advances in technology it is now produced in polypropylene.
The Eames DSR Chair comes available in a range of mid century modern colours reflecting its heritage and the period when it was first launched. In 2010 Vitra introduced this upholstered option which, as well as retaining the outer shell colour, also offers a number of coloured upholstery options in Hopsak (100% polyamide). Upholstery is available on just the seat pad or the full chair and, with the fully upholstered version, black or white piping surrounds and ties the upholstery into the seat shell.
For the all plastic version see Vitra Eames DSR Chair.
PURCHASING NOTE : To purchase the DSR Upholstered Chair, simply select the seat colour from the drop down box on the right. This will then show the complementary Hopsak colours and prices below for you to select. From the tic boxes below don't forget to select whether you require just the seat to be upholstered or the whole chair. With the fully upholstered version select the colour piping you require and whether you want felt glides (for a wooden floor) or plastic glides (for a carpeted floor).
