This is the Vitra re-edition of the now legendary Eames fibreglass DSR Chair with its chromed 'Eiffel Tower' style leg base. It's based on the original 1950 fibreglass design of the first industrially manufactured plastic chair.
In 1993 Vitra discontinued production for ecological reasons as fibreglass cannot be re-cycled. Thanks to recent advances in technology it was produced in collaboration with Zenith Plastics for the Museum of Modern Art's Low Cost Furniture Design competition in polypropylene.
The Eames DSR Chair comes available in a new range of mid century modern colours reflecting its heritage and the period when it was first launched. It remains one of our best selling chairs.
The DSR is also available with the same seat shells with a Hopsak upholstered seat. See : Eames DSR Upholstered Plastic Chair.
