The R1 Deluxe Tabletop Radio from Vita Audio is a welcome addition to the portable radio market, giving what we think is the leading brands a serious run for their money. Rather than a confusing mass of controls Vita Audio have conceived a stylish and easy to use RotoDial user interface making the R1 Radio beautifully simple to operate. This interface will be a feature and trademark on all future Vita Audio products.

The cabinet for the R1 Radio is manufactured from quality fibreboard (a material renowned for its excellent acoustic properties) clad in a choice of rich Walnut, real wood veneer or two high gloss lacquers (black or white).

The softly rounded corners add style and make the R1 Radio unit look and feel beautifully tactile. Most manufacturers use injection moulded plastics but Vita Audio panels are made from pressed steel for a finish and coolness of touch thats impossible to create with synthetic materials.

Information relating to broadcasts and set-up is shown through a clear black on white LCD display. When in standby the display is softly lit so it can be easily read at night when used as a bedside alarm radio.

The front panel has a conveniently placed headphone socket and an input socket so an MP3 player or any other audio device can be easily connected.

The rear panel has a pair of high quality gold plated phono outputs so the R1 Radio can be used as a DAB/FM tuner in an audio system.

Another unique feature is the R1s power supply. Rather than the usual heavy and bulky linear type it has a modern and compact switch mode for improved performance and a constant 12v DC supply with AC voltages ranging from 100-240v.
