Hans Sandgren Jakobsen was inspired by the classic Helium balloon which floats naturally through the air when he created his Helium lamp range for Lightyears.
The Helium Ceiling lamp depicts beautifully the upper half of a helium balloon's profile and the construction of the armature is based on mathematical calculations which ensure even lighting of the glass with no hint of shadows. The shade itself is hand-blown, triple-layered, opal glass, mounted on a silicone ring on top of the armature housing - this helps protects the glass and balances it.
In terms of lighting technology Helium is a really well conceived lamp. It provides concentrated, direct lighting as well as enhancing the diffused, ambient lighting of any room.
Helium is also available as a floor lamp and table lamp.
