The original metal Caravaggio Light was launched in 2005 from the Danish lighting company Lightyears.

The designer, Cecilie Manz, wanted to create a simple and soft design which lent itself to both small and large pendant fittings. With Caravaggio the curves passed through a number of shapes during the design process but the final version captures a soft and feminine form.

With Caravaggio Opal the design has been developed further and this time is manufactured in hand blow opal glass. This creates a soft, dimmed light - particularly good where a more evocative lighting effect is required. Thanks to the transparent white glass, the light from the lamp radiates in all directions and thus also lights up the lamp itself. In this way the light appears as a floating drop of light, which in itself is very evocative, and at the same time wraps its surroundings in a soft, pleasant light.

The cord is a part of the whole expression of the lamp, as it has been wrapped in grey textile material in order to bring a nuance of light and shade into the white look. Few lamps cast such a soft light as Caravaggio Opal. The white hand-blown glass shade works very gently with the light and sends down a warm, round light where needed, while the surroundings are illuminated by a pleasant room lighting full of atmosphere.
