The Ami Ami Chair by Tokujin Yoshioka for Kartell was inspired by the play of warp and weft in woven fabric.
The words Ami Ami mean, literally, 'weave' in Japanese and it was this ancient craft which influenced the overall design. The simple squared off lines of the chair design provide a sharp contrast to the rich texture of the weave effect which has been created through a complex industrial process to give a textured from a single mould.
Ami Ami combines the appeal of oriental culture with the use of innovative and versatile materials such as polycarbonate. It's available in two transparent finishes (clear and smoke) and three solid versions in red, black and white and a table is also available to complement the chair.
Due to packing restrictions these chairs must be ordered in multiples of two per colour.
