Alessi Bettina Wine/Water Glass (Pack of 2)

The Bettina range of drinking vessels was designed by Future Systems for Alessi.

This wine glass is available in a red wine or, unusually, the larger white wine size but either can be used for water or soft drinks.

These glasses have the unusual feature of a removable base. Whilst the actual drinking vessel is made from crystalline glass the base or cradle is made from clear plastic.

The cradle acts as a rest for the glass when it's not being used, though the glass will also stand up on its own even though it doesn't have a completely flat base. It feels completely round when held in the hand, creating a highly tactile drinking glass and allowing the uses to savour its content.

An original idea from Future Systems and Alessi which challenges conventional drinking glass design.
