The Grand Prix Chair, or 3130 as it was originally named, by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen was introduced in 1957 at the Designer's Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen. Later the following year it was awarded the 'Grand Prix' at the Triennale in Milan - the finest distinction of the exhibition, after which the 3130 received its new name.
Like its sister Series 7 Chair and Ant Chair Grand Prix is made up of 9 layers of beech veneer and has a chromed four leg base, making it a stackable chair. Its shape also allows Grand Prix to flex to the body's contours, making it an extremely comfortable chair.
Suitable for just about any application the Grand Prix Chair comes in a range of 9 coloured ash finishes as well as natural wood in beech or walnut. See below for further information.
