There are 4 basic shapes to wine bottle designs - Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhine and Champagne. To accommodate and cool these different shapes Ettore Sottsass and Alberto Gozzi came up with this design for Alessi, which is thicker at the bottom and sides to avoid dents. The handles have also been designed to ensure a perfect grip with a single hand. It holds two bottles comfortably with a depth to ensure both can be immersed right up to the neck.
