The La Fonda Coffee Table was created in 1961 when Alexander Girard was commissioned to outfit the La Fonda del Sol restaurant at New York's Rockefeller Center.
Girard was responsible for the restaurant's overall interior, ranging from the wallpaper to the crockery, and it was furnished in Eames Office.
For the restaurant the Eames' came up with a striking chromed die-cast aluminium frame base which was used for the chairs, dining tables and even the low coffee table. The table top is made from Carrara Marble, but it is also available in white HPL.
