The Turbine Clock by George Nelson for Vitra is another example of an everyday item which embodies the joie de vivre of the 1950s, using an industrial design idea adapted for a simple clock. This, together with the diversity of materials used and their sculptural shapes, was the start of a whole new era challenging the conventional design principles which had preceded it.
To this day, George Nelson wall clocks remain a refreshing alternative to the usual time-keepers.
The Vitra Design Museum presents a re-edition of the clock designs so cherished by collectors - in a true-to-the-original form.
