Ross Lovegrove

Lovegrove is inspired by natural forms, the possibilities of new manufacturing techniques and the ability to evoke an emotional response in its users. Whether creating a luxury leather bag collection or a plastic thermos flask, Lovegrove’s humanistic approach and organic sensibility have set a direction for design in the next century.

Ross Lovegrove studied design at Manchester Polytechnic and subsequently trained at the Royal College of Art, London. After finishing his studies he began his career at the acclaimed design consultancy Frogdesign, where his abilities became acknowledged nationally after completing projects for Sony Walkman and Apple.

He has now completed projects for a selection of superior brands including Louis Vuitton, Cacharel, Dupont and Hermes, acting as a design consultant for each. In 1990, he set up his own design office called Studio X where he produces work for his own brand as well as projects for Knoll, Artemide and several other design houses.

Lovegrove is a visionary with the aim to revolutionise some of the everyday products that we use to make them more environmentally friendly. He aspires to continue to create beautifully designed products that celebrate the full potential of our emerging scientific and technological age. When he designs he tries to evoke an emotional response in his customers by taking inspiration from natural forms and using this understanding of the organic to push a more humanistic approach.
