Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
1971 -
Born in Brittany in 1971 and 1976 respectively the BOUROULLEC brothers give fresh impulses to contemporary design. Within the space of a few years the brothers have become a much sough after double act, particularly after their work with Cappellini who recognised their talent at an early stage. At the beginning of the 1990’s they devoted their time at their studio in St.Denis to the reinterpretation of diverse objects, all of which bore their unmistakeable signature. These included office systems, furniture, lamps, kitchens, kitchen and home accessories.
Their accolades include the International Critics Prize, Salon du Meuble (1998), ICFF Editors Award for Best New Designer (1999), Designer of the Year Award, Salon du Meuble and Elle Decoration Design Award (2002).
Their work provides surprises and exhibits a high degree of harmony that goes hand in hand with a skilful choice of materials and multiple functionality. Their extensive work for Vitra includes the Joyn range of furniture and the iconic and beautiful Algue. Recently they launched the Panier side table/storage unit with Kartell.
