RON ARAD was born in Tel Aviv in 1951 but now lives and works in London. He studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Art, 1971 to 1973 and the Architecture Association, London, graduating in 1979. In 1981, he founded his own architectural design office-showroom 'One Off Ltd' in Covent Garden.
ARAD is primarily known for his early metal furniture designs in the shape of sumptuous armchairs. He designed the Bookworm bookshelf for Kartell and his soft curving signature feature can be seen in his other designs - the Tom Vac chair for Vitra, and the Baby Boop dishes and Chiringuito cocktail shaker for Alessi and glass furniture for Fiam Italia.
