Paolo Rizatto

Paolo Rizatto co-founder of Luceplan, was born in Milan in 1941. After graduating from the Polytechnic in Milan in 1965 with a degree in Architecture, he began his career working as a freelance designer. Paolo Rizatto works across the fields of architecture, design and interior design, specializing primarily in lighting design. His work is exhibited worldwide with permanent collections at foundations and museums: Architectural Associations in London, Milan Triennale, Wave Hill Museum Centre in New York, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In additon to this he has also completed projects for some of the worlds most acclaimed brands like Arteluce, Artemide, Kartell and Knoll.

While completing work for Arteluce he met fellow architects Riccardo Sarfatti and Sandra Severi and decided to form a collaboration with the two designers. Luceplan, was formed in 1978, and has subsequently been the brand that he has completed some of his most prized pieces for, with the most renown being the Lola Floor Lamp in 2001. The concept behind the brands success is purely to design beautiful eco-conscious solutions that are available to everyone.

The accomplished designer has also been awarded several prestigious design awards throughout his career including being the three times winner of the Compasso d'oro Prize in 1981,1989, 1995. Paolo Rizatto continues to develop his portfolio further in interior lighting design.
