Ferruccio Laviani was born in Cremona, Italy in 1960. After completing a degree in architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan in 1986, he worked at the Studio De Lucchi where he undertook projects for a diverse range of well-respected brands including Abet Laminati, Memphis and Polaroid.
In 1991, he started producing work for Kartell which is a relationship that continues to grow and develop. He now designs exclusively for Kartell alongside a selection of other world renowned designers including Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola and Phillipe Starck. Some of his earliest designs he produced for Kartell are still best selling items worldwide, showing the timeless quality of this designers work.
Laviani also continues to work as an independent designer as well, collaborating with various other designers and brands often posing as a creative director. There is no end to this designers talents, his diverse portfolio covers a whole variety of design disciplines including artistic director, product design, graphic design, interior design and exhibition space design for a combination of fashion and furniture fairs. His endless client list is a reflection of the skill and versatility that make his work truly unique.
