The Spanish architect Barba Corsini achieved international recognition in 1955 after completing a conversion project commissioned by the property company behind Gaudi’s famous building, La Pedrera in Barcelona. The project entailed converting the attic of the building into 13 individually designed flats in which Corsini also designed the lighting and furniture. The lamps he designed, the Predrera PD1 and Predrera PD2, took inspiration from the cylindrical shape and holes in Gaudi’s chimneys. This design was modernised by Jq. Ruiz Millet in 1991 for Gubi. The new design still offers the same utilitarian simplicity that blends perfectly into any space.
