A real design classic this elegant Espresso Maker from Alessi (known as 9090) by Richard Sapper is detached from its base with the ingenious use of its pivoting handle - a revolutionary idea which won the design numerous awards. This feature also enables the 9090 Espresso Maker to be opened with one hand rather than conventional screw top makers which require two. This was not only the first espresso maker from Alessi but also the first object designed for the kitchen after the 1930's which was attractive enough to be used not just in the kitchen but also at the table. It led to every other manufacturer trying to emulate Alessi and, even today, the 9090 remains one of Alessi's most popular coffee makers. As proof of this the 9090 is a permanent display item at New York's MOMA.
It comes available in 4 sizes : 1 cup, 3 cup, 6 cup and 10 cup.
